What is G10?
G10 is a resin-based composite material made from layers of fiberglass and epoxy resin pressed together under high pressure and heated until cured; giving the finished product increased strength and a lightweight feel.
G10 is a versatile material that was originally used for printed circuit boards due to its high temperature durability and non-conductive properties. It was later discovered that it was a good material for knife handles, gun handles, and even aviation due to its moisture-resistant properties.
What are the advantages of using G10 material for knife handles?
Durability: G10 material is very strong, impact-resistant, and not easy to crack or deform.
Moisture resistance: It has good resistance to water and moisture and is not easy to absorb water, thus reducing the risk of the handle becoming slippery due to moisture during use.
Slip resistance: G10 handles usually have a good grip, and the surface can be designed with a non-slip texture to increase safety during use.
Lightweight: Compared with some metal materials, G10 is lighter and does not increase the overall weight of the knives.
How to maintain a G10 handle?
The beauty of the G10 knife handle is that it requires very little care. Just keep it clean with hot, soapy water.
