Outdoor Knife Survival Guide 1: Master the skills of starting a fire

In the wild environment, lighting a fire is the key to survival. It not only provides warmth, but can also be used for cooking, purifying water and driving away wild animals. Here are several ways to use an outdoor knife to make a fire:

1. Collect dry materials

Use a knife to scrape dry wood chips from a tree trunk or branch. Look for dry branches or dead wood, and even peel off some fine fibers from the inside of the bark.
You can use a blade to gently scrape off some dry pine resin, which is a natural combustion aid.

2. Make a feather stick

Use a blade to cut a dry branch into small curled edges to form a "feather stick". These curled edges can increase the burning surface and make the fire source easier to ignite.

3. Use a fire stick to ignite

Use a fire stick and a knife blade. Put the blade close to the side of the fire stick and gently scrape off the metal chips. Quickly press down the blade to make the fire stick produce sparks and ignite the feather stick or wood chips.

4. Stone fire method

If you don't have a fire stick, you can try to hit flint (or hard stones such as quartz) with the back of a knife to ignite flammable materials through sparks. Make sure the knife is sturdy and suitable for use in an emergency.
